The parallel lines seem to converge near the center of this painting( linear perspective). The artist has also used a relative apparent size of the object on the picture plane. The carriages in the front part of the painting are larger than the tiny carriages in the back. There is also overlap in the buildings to help achieve the illusion of real space.
